　　It goes without saying that there are a wide variety of recreational activities nowadays, which may cater to the needs of different people. Those who love sports can play football, basketball or tennis as they like; meanwhile, others may find more pleasure in playing cards or mahjong.

　　While some recreational activities are beneficial, other activities can do harm to people. A case in point for the former situation is sports and games. These activities can help improve people’s health and mental well-being. What’s more, they can enhance friendship among people, just as the Beijing Olympics will do. On the other hand, if people prefer bad activities, they will have to suffer. For example, many people prefer gambling, and when they lose money, some of them will commit crimes.

　　As a college student, I hold to the belief that we should engage in healthy and useful recreational activities and stay away from the harmful ones. Only in this way are we able to build a harmonious society in our country.
